Everyone loves a good mascara, especially if it's waterproof (all the more power to you and your activities, whether those may be taking a shower, swimming, or having a good cry!). But does this mascara fulfill the requirements most women have for mascara- long, thick lashes that don't crack or crumble?
I am sitting here typing this to revise this piece- I feel that my opinions have changed on this product. I wrote this article at least two years ago and don't feel the same way about the Great Lash Mascara anymore. Here is my opinion at first:
Well hello there, everyone! It has been five months since I have written a post for you all. I have been so busy-- I was in my school play, I was on the gymnastics team, I had finals. And guess what? My last day of school is tomorrow! Woo hop! Today I will be reviewing The Great Lash waterproof mascara by Maybelline.

I bought this mascara in April to bring with me on vacation because I didn't have any waterproof mascaras (the vaca I was going on involved swimming) and I had heard good things about it. So I picked one of these up at CVS and tried it for the first time on vacation. Right away I noticed that the brush on the wand was much smaller than I had expected.
It was smaller than any of the brushes I've ever seen on a mascara. That didn't bother me that much, but I would have loved for the brush to be longer.
As for the formula, I did like its consistency. I liked the color and how it grabbed onto my lashes. I also liked how natural it looked; it didn't look like I was wearing a lot of mascara. Maybe that's because of the brush...?
The waterproof part worked GREAT for me. I went in the pool, the ocean, and took a shower with that mascara on and I did not look like a raccoon at all. That's a big plus! I also used makeup remover at night to take the mascara off (and any other makeup I was wearing) and the mascara stayed put. I literally had to scrub it off.
In all, this mascara works for me. I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good waterproof mascara. Just remember, the brush is tiny!!
So. Amazing or Awful? This mascara gets an Amazing for me.
That was my initial feeling on this mascara, since I wasn't as experienced with makeup as I am now and didn't know how great mascara can be, how better it can be than this product.
Sure, this mascara gets the job done if you're looking for very minimal volume and length, as well as prevention to water affecting your makeup. But that's the thing: I'm not sure if it's just me, but I like having my eyelashes thick (not clumpy, there's a difference) and long. This mascara does not do it for me. I don't really ever want my eyelashes to look the way they do with that mascara because I might as well just wear no mascara at all. Plus, the wand is small so it's not easy to apply. I do have to say the waterproof part did work. I felt the need to update my thoughts on this, just so I can compare how I feel with a few more years of experience and trial and error in the beauty department. So after editing this, this mascara gets an Awful for me.
